vivienne’s big girl room

I am so excited to share with you all Vivienne’s big girl room! This is her first room without a crib, and we wanted it to be very special and sweet. I also wanted it to be a room that she could enjoy now and also “grow into”. Previously some of my kid’s rooms were too baby-ish and they simply grow out of them too quickly! I love this room because it is feminine, refined, and will suit Vivienne for the foreseeable future. We based the design of the room around the fixture; Wade & I love light fixtures (I often refer to them as the “jewelry” of the house) and Vivienne had this fixture in her previous rooms and now in this room also.

Let’s start with the loveseat- while I love a chair in a children’s room (Ralph has a chair in his room) I wanted to mix it up and try a loveseat for this room. The window frames it perfectly, and it is a cozy spot where Vivienne can cozy up, read books, and take the occasional nap. Eventually as she gets older we can always swap out the loveseat for a sweet desk or another piece of furniture, but for now she has this lovely loveseat.

Moving on- for her first big girl bed, we wanted Vivienne to have an upholstered bed that was whimsical but also beautiful. We chose the wallpaper for her room first, and then we chose the same pattern for the upholstery on her bed. I also love a bolster, so we ordered fabric that was complementary and had a lovely bolster made as well.

I hope you enjoy these photos and maybe find some inspiration or a starting point for your home! Stay tuned for more home content.
